Well, we're coming up on the end of a great season of Little League baseball. Some of you will be playing for a bit longer in the post-season "All-Star" tourney...and who knows, you may go all the way to Williamsport for the Little League World Series this August!

But in the meantime, we here at Wilshire-Riverside will be wrapping up the season in style. Closing Ceremonies will be held this year at Wilshire Park. For those new to the League, Closing Ceremonies is really just an all-day baseball and softball party where we serve up snow-cones, burgers, sodas and other snack-shack delicacies. And of course it's a humble fund-raiser as well.

Throughout the day we sell raffle tickets to all the baskets which your teams are currently putting together (if you haven't heard about this...get on the ball)! Winners are drawn in the afternoon after the last game; you don't need to be present to win. Tickets will be sold at the Wilshire Park snack shack all day, so drop on by, check out the dozens of awesome baskets, have a burger and take in some stellar Farm ball!

Thanks to everyone for a great season. We hope that your sons and daughters had fun and learned a bit about baseball (or softball) and sportsmanship.

Upcoming Events

  • Closing Day Ceremonies: Saturday, June 4 at Wilshire Park from 8am to 3 pm
    At the end of the baseball and softball season each team donates a team basket to the league, and then each basket is raffled off throughout the day. Along with a barbecue, plenty of activities are also planned including the last game of the season for many of the ball players.
  • Tournament of Champions: June 4 - 15
    This is the end of the season tournament for minors, majors and juniors and every team in District 1 participates. At each level, games are played throughout North and Northeast Portland with the championship game held at Riverside Field on June 15.

  • Founder's Day Celebration: Saturday, May 14th at Riverside Field
    Founder's Day Celebration
    After last year’s 50th Anniversary event, we decided to turn this into an annual event. Again, anticipate a live band, adult refreshments, throwing contests and the always popular home run contest.
  • Spring Classic: May 4-10th
    In its fourth year, the Spring Classic is a six-day, mid-season tournament that pits Wilshire-Riverside Little League minor league baseball teams against Hollywood LL’s minor league baseball teams. It originally started to create a friendly competition between the two leagues and it continues to grow annually.
